Vanity Killed the Boy

There once was a beautiful young man named Narcissus.

He had gleaming sapphires for eyes, chestnut brown hair, and chiseled features.

But he was completely obsessed with himself.

He only liked his own pictures on Instagram and Facebook.

He never went anywhere without his phone and selfie stick.

He took a new selfie about every five minutes.

In his mind, no one could compare with his beauty.

He was so stuck-up and vain that he rejected everyone who asked him out,

and he left behind a trail of broken-hearted girls and one or two boys.

The gods were sick of this and decided that this young man would love himself to death as punishment for his vanity -

so, they made him fall in love with his own reflection.

When Narcissus put the camera in his phone on selfie mode, he was instantly smitten with his own image.

This boy was so hopelessly in love that his eyes never diverted from the phone screen.

Not even when he walked into the road during a green light and got hit by a truck.

A flower sprang up where he fell and took up his name.

Hopefully from this story, you have gathered

that there are dire consequences to being narcissistic.
