Veils of White

Veils of white

Beads of light

In the sight

Of aligning families

Of signing names

And dining on cake

Togetherness

“Forever” they say

Never do they lay

Of his slight

A blight on him and her

A darkness

Fierceness of the fight

On the dead of night

Bruises

Black and blue

Tears shed

So clear your eyes

And see the truth

Of the ruthless uncouth
