The Velvet Drain
My dream has been left unchanged,
but if I wait, I will remain,
circled down the velvet drain,
waiting for that day in vain.
Only tears to ease my pain,
and memories to fill my brain,
speak slow to me, and pass these days,
so that my sorrow goes away.
Here I stand without a grain
of knowledge if the feeling’s changed,
I wonder if I’m just insane,
or if it is a thinking game?
Now I look upon that drain
and feel the velvet in its wake,
speak soft to me, and count the days,
since my sorrow has flown astray.
I come to you and feel the blame,
the hatred for the coming rains,
the water pours, then starts to wane,
and I begin to float away.
I do not see the velvet drain,
my feelings are no longer feigned,
not hopelessly waiting for change,
but hoping I return again.
