Velveteen Eyes

Velveteen eyes
As dishonest
as glamorous

Refuse to hold
Significance
To all your pride

Glistening gold
Sweaty crown
On your head

When all your
Rags abound
Might as well be dead

Simply just a mirror
To all those
Who won't be seen

With nothing else
Original
You dedicate yourself a queen

Seamless illusion
Hard to despise
But it comes easy
with velveteen eyes
