Veneranda

When you’re old and begin to fail, will your mind remember me?

The two teenagers spending August nights being impulsive and naïve.

I had always hoped that you would become

An enduring part of my life.

But that’s a lot to ask someone as fleeting as you to sacrifice.

Memorable summer nights came and went, my memories did not

Not even much passed time could cure the loneliness I fought

I’ll never forget the passions that you made me feel all at once.

Passion did not fade even after eight long, isolated months.

That unforgettable warm August remains engraved into my mind

Someone else like you is nearly impossible to find
