Verbal abuse
I'm not sure where to start with this,
Or how to find the words,
But it's something I just have to do,
Because somehow it still hurts,
The way that I got spoken to,
Was less than I deserved,
The constant criticism,
Just made me feel unnerved,
It made me feel so worthless,
Like I wasn't good enough,
Inside I felt like dying,
The outside looking tough,
Learning to hold back tears,
So that he could not see,
The endless jibes and sneers,
Were just destroying me,
Everything I did,
I couldn't do it right,
From washing up the dishes,
Or just turning off the light,
He'd go out and get drunk,
His favourite kind of stunt,
Then when he returned home,
It was me he'd call the cunt,
I wouldn't make a sound,
Incase he was awoken,
That's when it would all kick off,
And leave me feeling broken,
Why did I put up with it,
I really do not know,
I wanted to get out,
But was putting on a show,
It's the children that have suffered,
Seeing this abuse,
Staying for the kids,
Is just a lame excuse,
So you have to grow some balls,
And get out while you can,
It's not too late to start again,
And find a better man!
