On the Verge

I can feel the pressure building

And I am doing whatever I can to

Keep this raging storm within me

For as long as I am able

But

I am stretched too thin

My skin is taut and my muscles tensed

My fingernails are bitten to the bedding and

Stained with blood that I am happy to know

Is merely my own

And not

Anyone elses

I have worked so hard to

Be there

For my Family

For my Responsibilities

I have neglected myself and now

I am paying the price

I am wasting away

And I am so afraid

Because

I am

On the verge

Of Destruction

And

I have no idea what that means
