Vertigo

Once upon a time
I felt so frail and alone
I wish I had a dime
So that I could atone.

The world spun and spun
then I knew I had to hold on
and I wondered what I’d done
to feel like this for eons.

The fear of what’s to come
controlled me from the dome
of my mind as the thoughts became scum
and my fear became foam.

I closed my eyes
I didn’t want to see
my vision become a flies’
and my body fail me

Not being in control
that’s what scares me
my life that it stole
being put out to sea

Anxiety in perpetual motion
never wanting to open my eyes
feeling as if I’m on the ocean
I just want to see the sky.

AmaraTheWarrior

Hello, my name is Anne-Marie. Welcome to my profile. I like to think of myself as a writer and advocate for mental health and invisible illnesses. Part of me struggles with my faith on a daily basis because of my sexual orientation. So a lot of my poetry is about coping with that and my health on a day-to-day basis. I don't define myself with my sexual orientation or my health struggles but they are a part of me; there's no denying that. I love to write dark science fiction about dystopic futuristic landscapes. I like to write strong female leads with a lot of emotion and feeling to them. I truly live, breathe, and enjoy writing. Thank you for reading this
