Veterans

They brave all danger,
They master all fear,
When they enter the land of a stranger,
They all have a noble code to which they must adhere.
But how do they feel…..
When stare into the face of Death?
Does it seem unreal?
Or does fear steal their breath?
As a country, we may never understand,
It may sparingly cross our minds,
Why our brethren leave the homeland.
Only the news and holidays serve to remind.
As a country, war doesn’t affect us, right?
We go shopping and watch the football game,
Wrong! War serves to unite,
We unite in patriotism, in victory and in loss, and, most importantly, to help our soldiers reclaim,
…..The dear lives they sacrificed.
