Vicarious Love

Poetry is my mistress She forgives my flaws and encourages thought In a world where a flower shrivels in the shadows of angst and self pity She is the light that encourages growth and nourishes faith When the looms of fate seem tattered and worn from tribulation She without a thought prior sews in hope into the fabric of time She is my teacher She captivates my creativity and curdles the premise of conformity When the student torments at the problems he is tasked with She is the warmth that focuses the troubled day dreamer What was once a soul drowning in a sea of enigma Graced by the cherubs of knowledge and insight illuminating the path to sentience Now cherishes life and the graceful benevolence of her presence She is me Tormented by my own limitations, she rewards perseverance with new heights for the sake of reciprocity The loner who was too paranoid to love and too frightened to make himself vulnerable Was able to look at the world differently through her eyes and shatter the shackles of complacency

I really appreciate the comment, Sarah. This piece really hit home for me so I was admittedly fearful of the responses I'd get.

I love Personification, though I don't use it much! I like how you literally brought your poem to life! that's really cool!
