A Victim Of Something You Cant Control.
You awake to the sound of cops beating the door of your apartment building.
What is happening? I look out the door to see a cop pounding the next apartment over. He looks at me a screams “ Get out the building is on fire!” I run down the steps bare footed with just the clothes on my back. I see people standing everywhere. My first thought was where is my mother? I’m running threw a crowed area searching.
At last, I finally found her. I was scared to death. Everyone just stood there as they watched everything they had worked so hard to get go up in flames. It’s literally one of the worse feelings that you could imagine. I worked hard to get on my feet and now I’m on the streets. I try to keep my head high. You don’t really understand the word homeless until you don’t know where you’re going to lay your head that night. You don’t understand the word hungry until you haven’t ate anything in weeks. Until your body is just so weak from all of the nutrients that it has lost. Until you can feel you’re bodies shutting down on you. No one really knows what your going threw and no one can feel the pain that you do. It has to get better from here right?
I am a fire victim of September 1, 2016. Hazard, KY.
