Victoria

Fingers tapped against the wheel

While the rain poured outside

Tap. Tap. Tap. Drip. Drip. Drip.

The window was jammed again.

Yellow light poured onto the street

A door opening

He was here.

Finally.

He looked normal

Just another business man

Probably had a rough day at work

Taking an Uber home

She should have said something

The lecherous stares were more intense than normal

But he was charming

So she said nothing

His name was Zeus, he told her

A manager at the power plant

A tiresome job,

But with so many kids and a trophy wife…

He suffered the long hours.

But at least she was here

The ride home was a light

Shining through his misery

Or so his smile seemed to say

The car pulled up to the curb

Of a house near ruins

“The kids always leave the place a mess”

Zeus explained

Victoria smiled at this

Her siblings could put his kids to shame

“Thank you for the ride darling,

And don’t take too long calling me”
