The View from Your Hospital Room

The view from your hospital room is astonishing.

Flocks of birds fly by, while cars meander along below.

The earth seems farther away in here, and it is, 10 floors below us

As the grip the day has on the world loosens the sky relinquishes its brightest beauty

The sun paints its most powerful masterpiece on the clouds that remain and sets it on fire as it lays itself to rest

And when it is at rest, and when you are at rest, the sky reveals it’s softer love, a love that has been fostered from afar, a love based on the whispers of the stars to the world about the secrets that they hold, the secrets of the universe.

This is the view from your hospital room.

I’m glad that you can still see it.
