The Villain You Once Knew

The Villain You Once Knew

By SUNFLWR

Black woman, long dreads, feared by men

Her name is Medusa

Yes I did say black

And yes I said dreads

That was the real Medusa

She was the African goddess of snakes

Her story taken advantage of by white men

The Greek goddess we all knew

Her story was never true

The monster she became is all too familiar

The black woman is always feared and disrespected

And that she was

She now is reincarnated into modern black girls

You know

The ones we don’t like to talk about

The ones that always get hurt

You know

The modern day Medusas
