Virtually Blind

She looks out her bedroom window

A tear rolls down her bruised cheek

Her hands are tightly wrung in each other

Painfully rubbing her scars and wounds

She’s curled up against the corner of the abandoned room

She doesn’t utter a word

But all that races through her mind is

WHY?

Why Me?

What did I do to deserve this?

Her thoughts shift back to the day they first met

Sheepish smile, strong arms and a soft voice was all it took to captivate her

Too bad she couldn’t see behind the the skin, behind his looks and promises

To just see who he really was and what he really wanted from her

But it was too late

Too late to think twice

Too late too to turn back

All she can do is cry and feel sorry for herself

Seclude herself from the outside world and just ask herself “Why?”

The only thing is

There isn’t an answer

The only thing that one can say is

“All that glitters isn't gold”
