Visible Violence

More bruises and even more lies.

Worries fills the woman’s eyes.

She wasn’t supposed to see

Yet she watched him hurt me.

All I think is “I need more blush”

To cover the bruises and blood

When he leaves she offers me a hand

Watches carefully while I stand.

Now everyday we share a glance.

Her care gives me hope, gives me a chance.

Everyday I notice the pain in her eyes.

Now we share the same lie.

Her eyes mirror mine with pain,

I hope her kindness is not in vain.
