A Vision and a Reflection

Dear sweet child with eyes so kind

I see in your dawn a broken mind

You will hate me when you see me

It will chase you day and night

You will roar to never be me

You’ll fight back though strong is a curse’s might

You will live your fears

You will chase your dreams

You will feel the tears bless your face

And you will pray daily to a King of Kings

Yet still you’ll feel these shackles

Still you will feel these chains

Still you will feel this anger

Still you will feel this pain

Though this fire has burnt you always

This year will change you still

For although you fought with so much hope before

This year you will know that it was not real

Yes sweet child, even now I see you

I hear you, I dream you more than ever

I’ve failed you sweet child

But know that momma believes one day you will get better
