Vision Opened, Justice Owned

I see not what you see, me being

White and loving and kind,

untraveled in your skin,

thinking equal equals blind.

You say my equality is wrapped

in shut-ups and get alongs,

brandishing kindly suppressions and

shushing your painful song.

Maybe I should pause,

maybe I should listen,

maybe I should own the harm

of uninformed intention.

You say your change would be this?

To not ask the if but to explore the be,

to see that color is color not gone long

wrapped in pain that is not free.

You say to join you not

in equality supposed

but in vision opened, knowledge known

and justice long last owned.
