The Vision of Poetry

Poetry

The middle school me was confused by this word

I understood the meaning, but didn't grasp the concept

After reading a poem by Langston Hughes, I understood why poetry grabbed many people's attention

I liked poetry, but I wasn't motivated enough to read more poems

High school me found out about spoken word. After seeing many high school students recite poetry, I was more interested in watching spoken word

I decided to read some poets from famous poets

I understood how poetry captured the souls of many individuals

Spoken word was the visual form of poetry

I understood poetry more with spoken word

I wanted to share my art with the world, but I realized I haven't read as much poetry as other people

I reminded myself I wasn't trying to be an expert in poetry

All I wanted to do was to share my thoughts with the world the best way I knew how
