Visions of the Apocalypse

I dreamed a view of reddish sky, The moon was blood, the night was nigh. Upon the air, I smelled a reek, Discerned a bird, a vulture’s beak. And in my dream, I glimpsed a town, Of crumbling buildings sliding down A fire burning far away, Casting shadows in the grey. I looked about, and all around, Skeleton Bodies on the ground. Sockets staring, lidless eyes, Crawling maggots, buzzing flies. A Light flashed out, upon that scene, A rainbow sheen, red, blue, and green. A cloud of color, breached the night, The reddish sky was all alight. The cloud, it glowed, and rose up high, It grew until it filled the sky. And to my horror, a frightful sight, The bodies rose, turned towards the Light. They stood in silence, for a spell, Skeleton bodies, sky of hell. Then one by one, began to run, Away from yonder burning sun. They disappeared into the night, And I was left to face the Light. The vulture sitting, burst aflame, And all around, the same, the same. My eyes were burned, my skin was flayed, My frame convulsed in fiery pain. My flesh was melted, bones remained, A Skeleton Body, I became. Hours passed, the Light did wane, The world around, no more aflame. And in the dark, I saw them come, Skeleton Bodies, one by one. They dropped about me, all around, Covering up that blackened ground. My knees gave way, I tumbled down, Newest citizen of skeleton town. I lay upturned, and glanced above, The sky was red, the moon was blood. I felt the earth begin to shake, Heard a shriek, and did awake.
