Visual Transitions

My dream world would be a world of light and enlightenment. Of airy visuals, riveting storylines, and where everyone in the world’s story ends contently. I envision a life where creativity flows like a river is not stagnated by rigid expectations. I am black. I am female. I am an artist. And I am no longer content with being one of the few. I want to spread my knowledge while gaining it, until it permeates to every young black girl, or young girl, or young person and they have the opportunity to use my media so they also can gain a voice. However, none of this possible while, I myself, am still a mere pupil. I have much to learn, not only as a video editor, or an artist, but as a person. What will be my message to spread? But, I guess, in the end the important factor is that it will be my message. Not society’s. I will someday have the power to edit out negative, sexist, racist, homophobic, discriminatory messages from the media, and I will encourage others to do the same.

This is such a cool video poem! I love how you speak about how there are many different parts which make up your personality, and how you use that personality to become an individual. This poem can definitely be used to inspire others to be themselves, while making a difference! Check out the "Take Action" section for even more ways you can use poetry to change the world!
