Vitam Vivere Plenissime

Limping slowly, like an old man with a cane, Beat up, whimpering, like a puppy, she moved through the empty hall, Till she made it to her safe haven where she wept in pain And looked in the mirror where she saw no hope at all. Every night was the same. Every night blood was shed But she knew, she had no choice. Only one life; One person; One responsibility; One reason to keep her head Held high because nothing can be worsen. Run! Run! Quick, Jack!- A rush of adrenaline, A rush of fear all just in time; But then he reached for her hair and threw her at the bin And she was limp like an angelic doll who is foul or grime No sound, no breath, just weak and fragile angel, Showing no signs of life and no reasons to live. All hopes and dreams were lost, her brother watched As his protector lied lifeless, breathless, and dreamless Those who are meant to protect us sometimes don’t It is hard to watch as your loved one protects you from evil meant for you. As you watch the life drain from their face Their white eyes like a canvas with no color; If you could hear their last signs of life in their breathing, their heart pumping the last hopes of life, shallow as a pond, cold as the ice from the sky, threatening the lives bellow,- My friend, you would never take life for granted You would live life to the fullest and appreciate every Moment of sorrow, happiness, and glory Vitam vivere plenissime Emulation of Wilfred Owen’s poem, Dulce Et Decorum” by Prema Vyas
