A voice

A voice protected in a soul

Away from hate and judgement

Critics and manipulators

Away from every harm the world holds

But those too, are voices

Voices of greed and anger

That must be suppressed

But in truth can never be silenced

In sudden realization

The voice protected

Must become the voice protecting

A voice with a message for the people

A voice of hope and joy

To overpower and tune out negativity

One that sends waves of melody

One that makes you move in rhythm

One that is unique to you,

Unlike the countless number of negative voices

I released my voice

In spite of being afraid of rejection

And hatred and judgement and humiliation

To protect and distract the people from those very things

I released my voice

To sing

To tell stories and speak truth

So that for a split second we could forget about everything

And speak for ourselves

I released my voice to protect a soul
