The Voice

There is a voice in my head that comes out in dark places

It shouts and screams tearing at my flesh

Screaming that I should be dead

That I am ugly

Or I should be dead

Or I am unwanted

It makes me sad and makes me crack and makes it hard to breath

But then there are strong places of light

The beach is strong it loud with wind and waves

The wind chases the voice away, the water washes it away and the sand feels the cracks

Slowly the cracks fill and I smile and smile even when the suns go down

And all I do is breathe

The voice is fading now that you're gone and I am covered with scars

Sometimes when the voice gets too loud I shut my ears and think of the beach and it fades away

And that is all I want
