The Voice in my Head

My life is a mess

Something I believed to be meniscal and unimportant

Rushing to figure myself out and who I want to be

Searching for words of encouragement within myself

And finding none

Until someone who see’s something I can’t

Potential

Drive

A mentor comes is so many forms

A friend

An idol

A voice of encouragement

Constantly reminding me I am worthy of great things

I am capable of great accomplishments

And I deserve a great life

I’m still a mess but because of you I know I can figure myself out

With education

With experiences

With help from someone who understands what it was like to be young and unsure

You said sometimes people see something’s you can’t see for yourself

And for that I am grateful

I needed that

I believe that

I can make it happen because you believed

Even when I couldn’t.
