The Voice of the Soul
Poetry helps me find myself
Rewind myself and re-align myself
Trapped in a world where we die for wealth
And live for material possession
And our high schools only teach us how to take tests
They’re failing at giving us life lessons
No knowledge of investments
I invest in humanity and try to end insanity
The truth is just perspective, but I try to end the fallacies
The world’s full of calamities
In Bangladesh, there’s tragedy
I think that it’s ironic people die because of factories
The factors that led up to this
Are based upon consumption
Some face this life with nothin’
You’re surprised that they’re not somethin’?
I see people that deck the halls
I see people that fill the streets
I see people who love to feast
I see people with none to eat
I see people who practice peace
And others practice violence
This world is full of voices
Some are loud and some are silent
I’ve seen things be returned
And I’ve seen things be stolen
I’ve seen pockets full of lint
And seen pockets swollen
And I’ll just quote an influence
Even though I don’t know him
In the words of Michael Franti
“Every single soul’s a poem”
