The Voice Within

When I project my voice, I can move a mountain. I could vibrate the Earth’s core when I release sound waves from my lips. It is possible that I could melt the hearts of all those who are listening when I extend my vocal chords. Indeed, I have a voice. My voice is my trademark. I would be empty without it. When all else has branched away, this voice will always be mine. All my insecurities are no longer when I freely use my voice. It will lead me towards my dream; it will present boundless opportunities for my future. There is nothing I would rather do than to use this voice as an offering to someone’s happiness or an opening to someone’s heart. This voice of mine will never be shamed and always appreciated, and will lead me towards my dreams.

Most may presume that since my appearance is rather petite and delicate, then my voice will be as well, but their assumptions are soon proven invalid.  I like to command a room and make my presence known. Not only that, but capturing the attention of all those around me is completely mandatory. Therefore, when I am given the chance to project my vocals across a room, building, or audience, I strive to exceed the limits of all the thoughts that are gathering at once at my expense. I know what I am capable of, and I take pride in my talents. I want others to see the goodness in me. I do not want to disappoint those around me. It not only has to please me, it not only has to please the listeners, but it must also be well with God. I owe my gifts to him. Since my gifts are indebted to Him, they must be upheld and shown with the greatest honor and dignity. I refuse to settle for anything less than sensational, and I refuse to allow the ears of my listeners be left scorned.

Within me, there are daily battles. I tend to question myself: “Am I good enough?” “Will all my work be in vain?” “Will I ever be the one to change someone’s life?” and now, I lack the answer for all these questions. Though, I believe soon I can find the answers that I so desperately seek. These questions I concoct help me put an endearing passion into my singing. I am able to deliver profoundly because I know I have something to seek after in the future that will better my life or, possibly, someone else’s. I do not know what the future holds, nor can I control it. However, I do want to eventually be able to say that I am more than good enough, and my work was indeed put in to well use, or that I am that someone who made a difference in one person’s life.

My voice that can move mountains and rattle the core of the Earth is something I could never take for granted, for it is not just for me, it’s for the world. Everyone needs a voice because without it there would be no unity, no connection, no understanding. Our voices aren’t just for speaking, they are for revealing. Inside us, there are numerous things that have to be shared, we just have different ways of expressing. Whether you rap, preach, teach, sing, or even rant, find your voice. Because without your voice, you may just as well be empty.
