Voiceless

I am a Coxswain,

but terrified of my own voice.

My coach told me I was meek,

any confidence collapsed.

I am a Coxswain,

I am supposed to be loud,

To be better than the rest,

to be mentally strong.

I am a Coxswain,

I broke a boat,

I hit the shore,

Smacked a buoy and a bird.

I am a Coxswain,

I got loud,

I got strong,

I was promised I was the best.

Now, others fear and respect my voice.
