Voices In The Night
If one quietly walks the night, they will hear the whispering echoes—
The ones that murmur evil things; frayed with lies and broken schemes
Left all alone to face what’s shown; their cries are now mere pitiful moans
The gate’s unlocked, but no one’s home; the servant has lost Destiny’s keys
And if the night shrouds their cries, do they in turn try harder—?
To escape a fate; in an endless dark; that stretches farther than the morrow—?
One that pries the mind of man; the loss of soul; a hand that’s colder
Could it in fact be the same reason that causes a young child to cower—?
Darkness is a stranger thing; there is no end; it’s a boundless thing
Groomed by its serene beauty yet forever shunned by man
Hiding truths that are no more truthful; then the snake whose poison strikes and stings
Trapping those who have trapped it in turn, hiding sunlight; hiding land—
For in the darkness there is no escape; all is painful; all is staked
All for but those chosen few; who walk the night; its black and blue
Those other voices; the murmuring fools; have not seen the light; its warped, it’s faked
All they do now is wander blindly; under the graces of the silver Moon—
But still they linger in the darkness; filled with sorrow, anger; hate
Feelings of their now lost world; stuck between two places; broken on Earth
And only those who walk the night, can hear the whispers when Midnight comes late
Words heard from a hidden race; ones who lost themselves to pride and worth.
