Void
He wanted a revolution
But when it was given, he was too afraid to fight
Words are shouted as if listener's ears are nothing but void
Because when the time comes to take action
We shrink back into our shadows
I don't believe you meant it when you promised me you'd fight
I gave you the chance, and you cowered before me
I want words to mean something.
I am not just a void, I remember what you promised
And you tried to silence me when I called you out
Because they were just words to you, words don't mean a thing
"Sticks and stones," you said,
If only that were true.
my scars, they healed.
my bones, they healed.
but I still cling to your words.
Words?
Words are nothing.
Words are fleeting.
an invention of man
designed to dignify a filthy world
but oh how beautiful they are
when spoken from your lips
even though I know
I'm nothing but a void
a mirror
for you to admire your own charms
I'd want the world to listen
and see
and know
that I am here to stay.
Carve my words into the pavement of your hearts
Let my voice resonate through your veins
My words will be heard
I am not a void.
