The Void in Healing

The funny thing about healing is

It creates a void,

A sudden gradual vacuum

Where there had only been pain

An emptiness 

That you must purposefully fill 

With joy, hope, and zest for life

And yet that takes work

And the soreness of a vacuum 

Almost makes you miss the pain

As if the hardest part of healing

Is pulling yourself from the hole that had created itself inside you

When it empties itself out

And you find yourself alone again
