Waitin'

I’m feelin it in the pit of my gut, like

to me, it’s happening again, that

familiar shortening of breath, tightness

of chest signaling the beginning of the

end.

To some it seems I might just be over

reacting, or just jumping to conclusions,

but to a person like me, who’s been in the

trenches as long as I have, this isn’t just some

over reaction, not just some mental illusions.

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again, and

again, and again, against an attack on the heart,

it’s hard to defend, for you see the betrayal of a

heart comes in many forms, and the most deadly

blow usually comes from the one you most adore,

behind closed doors.

So I sit...

And I wait...

Full body armor adorned on my frame, strategic

counter attacks formulating in my brain as my

heart prepares for war.

I refuse to fall victim, cower, or just wither away

as the invasion, and destruction of my heart takes

place, I will fight to the death, and die with honor,

staring my heart’s cold blooded killer square in the

face.

I will fight...
