The Waiting

The words you put out there

Just linger there a moment

As time seems to freeze

You spoke in anger

Just saying anything

But then that moment comes

When you realize you can't take back what you said

Your words sting

In the cool air

Almost killing the other person

Their face in shock

You wait and wait

For something

Anything

To be said

But nothing ever is

And that's the worse part

The waiting
