waiting

i waited for storm clouds

i waited for cold

i waited for rainy days.

i sat on my window sill and collected thoughts like tiny rain drops.

i listened to sad songs, even if i wasn't sad.

i picked up pieces of my brocken heart

and i put them back together.

the single tear down my cheek,

the rainy days,

the sad songs...

they fill the cracks, they remind me that the cracks are still there.

cracks are just the battle scars,

they taught me all i know about myself.

my ears filled with the sound of wind dancing on the tree tops.

and the smell of promised moisture filled the air.

so i sat.

and i contemplated.

i thought of all the good things

and the bad.

i came to peace.
