Waiting to be See

Waiting

I am the picture you see first,

the one without the filter

I am the sun peaking through the clouds before the storm,

the calm feeling that washes over you just before it hits

I am the piercing feeling of hope you get looking out to the city lights,

unknown and mysterious but always exciting

I am the first day of spring,

when everything feels new and alive and screaming with color

I am the color yellow,

happiness and memories

I am that secret in the back of your mind,

the one you know you can’t keep

I am a mason jar full of sunflowers,

distorting perception but still holding something beautiful

I am the pine tree under the snow,

struggling to stay alive through the bitter winter

I am your favorite song,

the one turned up so loud you can’t hear your tragedies

I am the willow tree shading people who seek it,

a little sad, but a good listener

I am your favorite book,

the one you can always go back to for the comfort of knowing

I am the star that just burnt out,

waiting to be seen

I am the girl that tries to live without a filter,

honest, ambitious, and gonna make a difference
