Waiting for A Change

We the people carry shame

From unknowingly playing their game

We vowed to be different, to be ourselves

Instead we were put upon the shelves

How does one transcend this

To cross the uniform abyss

Do we escape with Emerson, alone

Or just simply do we condone

I hope someday we can look back and say

"I don't regret the decisions I have made to this day"

That in itself is a choice

One that allows the survival of your own voice
