Waiting for the Dolphins to Die

Does it ever make you wonder why,

The fires burn so you cannot see the sky,

Or plastic fills the seas where fishes lie,

And you hear the screams as orcas cry?

With time too short to say goodbye

We are waiting for the dolphins to die.

Will the lament we feel crush our soul,

When we realize our role,

That we played with oil and coal,

And what we love is no longer whole?

Or were we always blind to the sky

And deaf to giant trees that sigh

And never knew the end is nigh,

Waiting for the dolphins to die?
