Waiting in the Moon

I’m waiting for you beneath the light of the moon I stand with outstretched hand Waiting for the lustrous beam to find you and carry you away to me May it be your light in dark places May it send you from the arms of harm May it provide you with the knowledge that I wait for you I wait for you to need me When you find me, my fingers will curl around your fragile heart I will hold it high above the hungry mouths of wolves and vultures Away from the claws of the monsters that rip at my legs Their nails dig into my flesh; they drag their razor like talons down the length of my back My grip on you never loosens My fingers do not crush you in anguish I lift you up so you can see brighter days Days that you so deserve The darkness that shrouds you is only ephemeral I beseech you, pursue my light May your legs carry you quick and nimble to me The moon reflects off the surface of my hair The light plays with shadows and dances on your heart. This is where it belongs, right here in my palm.
