Wake
The universe, the leaves, the cities and the trees. The ocean sends us a cooling breeze yet were stranded in this heat. No shade for days, no food for though, in a drought. My mind is so dry—send some rain before all that is flora and fauna ends up dust in a cloudy storm drain. Heavy heart and heavy mind caught in the web and stuck in my bed. Where are the trees, the cities, the leaves and the universe I once knew—like my oma's famous pumpkin stew, a memory, a taste, but barely. It can not be recreated just replicated. Not the same, not the way, two roads and I don’t know which way to take. Tried to go left but my feet turned right and I was left staring in the other direction. Not even seeing what was there, what is here. Left wishing, hoping, and praying instead of living. Left wanting instead of giving. Grieving and unable to receive. Let me realize. Feel the fallen, crunching leaves underneath my feet and the bark on my skin. Wake. Not to a mistake. Make the best out of your skin.
