Wake up and rise
Today you will wake up again
Today you will stretch and yawn
And put on your clothes again
To keep trying to move on
Today you will laugh and smile
Because it’s what they need to see
Pretend for a little while
So that they don’t see you bleed
You can't bear to look at yourself
or the tears still in your eye
and they talk about mental health
but it doesn’t stop your will to die
And life is not the party
It always used to be
It’s less joyful and less hearty
Too dark to even see
But please don’t give up trying
Your story isn’t done
And when you’ve finished crying
You’ll rise with a new sun

I'm a Grad student now studying Biochemistry and Biophysics (not sure how I got there). I guess I've been using this site for nearly 8 years now though sometimes I went years without writing much of anything. I write what I feel and I write what I need to let go of. Sometimes I write about a dream or a nightmare I had, If I can tell the difference. I fell in love for poetry in high school and continued to write in college.
