Waking Dreams

O, I spend sleepless nights,

Wondering until moonset,

Wandering until I set

My feet down in the water

So clear and bright and cold,

Still, after another day of old.

O what would it be to sleep for once?

To know that I find piece?

But how can peace exist for us

In this dreamless endless sleep?

How can the days keep going on

When I never see the sun?

Stars glare and die with flare,

But when do we go out?

We pass silently through a veil

And exist for nevermore

Hoping to find some peace

In a slumber on the shore.
