Waking Moments

Fleeting images replaced with waking reality,

Eyes flutter, vision blurred, crusting light;

The mind reboots as higher functions call,

Thoughts of the day, flashing of obligations;

Slow rising from clouds of blankets,

Cold granite greeting stretching toes;

Muscles moan as power restores,

Up standing, arms stretching to the sun;

Shivers bolt through the machine,

Breathing deep and grateful;

First step into the future,

New day has begun.
