Walk Away

People claw, people crawl, and grab you by your ankles, holding you tightly, never letting you go, pulling you back, hands around your neck til you can't breath no more, so you break free and escape, run, run, run, until you run out of road, don't look back, you might not like what you see, run to a better future, to a better place, where the sun always shines. Their stares, and glares, may haunt you in your dreams, the harsh whispers, and twisted smiles, may send chills down your back, their burning words may be permanently etched into your skin, but only YOU can decide whether to wash them away or not. Turn your back on them, to the dark threatening cloud looming above you, walk away, it's as easy as that, they can only hurt you if you listen, to their teasing, and taunting, and their endless stream of hate. Just stop and walk away.
