A Walk Through the Willows

The forest is lovely, dark and deep. I wish I could stay, but I have promises to keep. Maybe just one more minute, Maybe just one more Could I stay longer, and meet you by the door? Can I just lie here, amidst the branches and snares, stare up at the patterned sky, no worries or cares? May I walk between the willows, and nap beneath the stars? Spending time in the moss, trees like soft prison bars? Not that I'd dream of leaving, there'd be nowhere to go. How could I go on believing, in something so trivial, Like friendship and laughter? When the forest will love me, forever and after?
