Walked Too Long of a Road

Life is a highway for some people But for me it is more of a country road The kind of road where wifi doesn't reach Where each curve reveals a new wonder I put in my destination in the GPS Until I get there I'm keeping my eyes on the road No detours I could get lost here Every now and then I reach a split I have to pick a way The funny thing is I never know if I choose right I just follow the path I turned on And never look back If I look back I regret it Honestly, I'll never know So I keep going People join me occasionally Some stay a while Most hop on and leave at the nearest exit It feels like a long road A lonely one, too But once I get to the destination It's going to be great No, it won't be perfect, or easy I will make it work, though What do I have to lose? I really want to get there But I don't want to miss the journey The journey is why I am who I am So I follow my path My beautiful, private, lonely road All the way to exactly where I need to be

Maybe in your eyes, but I feel like my ultimate destination is another city. I want to go there. I don't know how to get there, but the journey will lead me somewhere, either there or somewhere else entirely. I do agree with you, though. I just want to keep hoping for a destination.

There is no destination, only the journey.
