Walking Slow

One step at a time Running at Half speed hands clenched at my side Though I'm fighting every movement my body's at war with my heart, shit I can't do this I've done this once already And Id do anything to never feel this ache I'm not ready Let me get caught in the hallway, ill turn around and hear " Dear ? You're headed the wrong way" "there's no one here that goes by that name" Instead I feel regret, even today... The desire to go back in time to that day I'd be awake earlier I'd make it in time I'd get to feel your chest rise And then I could actually say good bye Dust clouds surround as I clasp my hands together Desperate times call for old habits Up to those gods of old where I haven't felt any peace and trust that so called faith There's no saving me or my sister today A two hour drive to a tragic destination Several narcotics to hold my high although reality weighs me down low No old tricks to rescue me The doors of the elevator cage me in The voice that brings me serenity is miles from here locked away A gasp a choke held down tears in my throat I feel sick to my stomach as I began walking slow To the depths and abyss where your spirit no longer glows
