Walks on the Beach

We would play in the sand

hours going by

But little did we know

the greatest joy in the world

would inch closer to death

At first it was nothing

a cup here a cup there

until it started infecting our oceans

Today we understand that our little problem

is actually great and big

and has an affect so vast

Heaping piles of plastic intrude on our oceans

killing our animals

all by the touch of our hands

In the upcoming years

we will have more plastic

than fish in our oceans

Enjoy your walks now

for they will not last

if humanity continues

on this treacherous path
