The Wall

We live in the same town

Yet I feel as if you were a thousand miles away

As if you were in the other side of the world

As if you were in a far away universe

You take me for a fool

You said you were going to stop

That the smoke that brought a horrendous smell would stop

I made the mistake of believing you

The smoke with the horrendous smelled still lingered

Can’t you see you are slowly killing yourself

You say that I am just a child who wouldn’t understand

You tell me to stop my whining as I am too dumb to understand

Even with your words I still cared

Believed that your old self was still in there

That you would treat me as your actual child

Not as some toy to throw away when boredom arrives

Could I get through the wall you have built between us

The wall that made us distant even though we were in the same room

Why bother going to your house

The only thing there is at your house is the wall

Hopelessness fills my mind as the months pass by

I dreamt of one day breaking down the wall

That we wouldn’t be galaxies away

That you would appreciate my worry

Yet those dreams were only dreams

I was grounded to reality when I went over to your house

Nothing changed just a house filled with smoke with the horrendous smell

I am in the midst of giving up

Tried telling others about the wall in your house

You are too young to understand they said

Worry about being a child instead they said

Stop exaggerating and understand how hard he has it they said

They will never understand my yearning for this wall to be torn apart

They don’t know what it is to feel distant to someone in the same room

They don’t know how sick the smell of the smoke makes me

To them I am just a clueless child

Maybe it is for the best

This wall between you and me will never break

We will forever be distant no matter how close we actually are

To you I will always be the clueless child

You had enough and told me to leave if I didn’t like the smoke

All the hope I had withered away

The wall turned into titanium

Our distance grew even more

I thought you would have stopped me from leaving

That you would had realized your mistake

That you would break the wall between us

That there was an inch of care left in you

You threw me away as a used-up toy

You are now a ghost of someone I used to know

Of a father I used to look up to

A distant memory as you became permanently distant
