Walls

Walls, Walls

Why do we always put up walls?

To keep people in?

Or keep them out?

To protect ourselves ?

Or to protect those we love?

When the walls come down,

What is left in the ruins?

The memories of the loved ones we lost,

The pain we went through when we were being bullied,

The misery of feeling alone,

The happiness of bringing a bundle of joy into this world,

The excitement of being picked first,

The joy of your parents saying, "That's my kid."

Whatever your walls were put up for,

Whatever they were broken down for,

What will be left in the ruins?
