Walls
We’ve got perfect thoughts for a perfect world
But then reality hits us in the face when we head out to the world
Rejection…disappointment…heartache…pain becoming a regular occurrence
Driving us insane…
We build walls
We build walls because we want to be in a safe space
A safe space shielding us from what we perceive to be disgrace
We say we’re fine when things are rough
We say we’re good when things are bad
We build walls
Don’t worry about me we say….
When really we want people to give a damn about us
But for fear of being perceived a bother
We keep a lot of shit to ourselves
We build walls
On the sleeves of our shirts where our hearts once lay
There’s an empty patch with no emotion to display
Detained within these confines for fear of feeling free
Anxiety….panic…shame…constant reasons to flee
We build walls…
